The village of Surlingham lies in a scenic river valley some 7 miles east of the city of Norwich. It sits in a horseshoe bend of the river Yare in a lesser known part of the Norfolk Broads. The village is spread out over a rough quadrilateral of lanes with farmland in-between. The village attracts visitors for a variety of reasons. It boasts two wildlife reserves: the Church Marsh bird resrve and the Ted Ellis nature reserve.
